Fukuoka city. Home of the hakata ramen which I so love! I remember my first encounter with tonkotsu ramen. It was heavenly. All other forms of ramen paled in comparison when I dug into my first bowl of rich, flavourful pork bone broth noodles topped with char siew and other edible decorations, ie. bamboo shoots and spring onions. That was Ippudo. This former port city in Fukuoka prefecture is also famous for its offal hotpot - Motsunabe (もつ鍋) in Japanese. But no, thank you. I do not normally consume innards unless the people I'm with decide to go for it ...like, I won't eat kway chap (which has pig's innards) if I'm alone; it's a dish that's meant to be shared, IMO. We spent most of our time in Fukuoka city on checking out the shopping malls and at the same time, did a little retail therapy. I also realised that Tenjin is actually quite a hippy area where the fashionable go to. おしゃれ-- here are a few photos from the streets, "Fukuoka x VSCO". This time, I'm with the rainbow. Sorry B&W...

It felt as if we were in Nagasaki just yesterday. ...but it has been a 3 weeks since my mom and I return from our holiday in northern Kyushu, Japan. We did not drive, and so I think we missed out a lot of nice spots which public transportation would not have brought us to. However, in all honesty and contentment, we managed to tick off most of the places which we had planned to visit. Yay! You gotta love the punctual, clean public transportation in Japan, anyway. :) I have put together a couple of photos in a slideshow, below. If you would like to see more of these, please check out my Instagram account, where I'm (still) posting photos of my trip, until I run out of them. There are also a handful of street photos of Fukuoka-shi, our last stop dedicated to mainly shopping. Thank you! |
